Ipswich Children’s Dance Performance Classes
In Performance Classes at Helen Clark School of Dancing, the children amalgamate steps they have learnt from their Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Acro and Extension and Flexibility classes and put them into performance routines which they perform at eisteddfods and the end of year concert. Children are not required to audition for performance teams. The students perform in three or four local eisteddfods per year. Eisteddfods give children the opportunity to “dress up” in costumes and perform their dances on stage for family and friends.
Performance Routines
Generally, our dance students really love performing. It enhances their confidence and self-esteem and provides valuable skills in team work. While we offer performance routines in tap, jazz and ballet dancing, students can only participate in the routines which correlate to their selected technique class/classes. For example, if a child participates in the tap and jazz technique classes they can only participate in the performance routines for these 2 styles of dance (and not the ballet routines). Please see the Timetable for the performance class times. If you choose to be in the Performance Team, you are committing to be a part of the term for the entire calendar year. Performance Dancing is a team sport accordingly it is important that the children attend all associated practices.
Performance Fees and Costumes
Performance classes at Helen Clark School of Dancing are additional to technique classes and are included in the fee structure. Performance class costumes are organised by the dancing school and generally issued on a hire basis for a nominal fee. Occasionally costumes are purchased by the parents.
